P7 - Ms. N Norris

Welcome to Primary 7!

My name is Miss Norris and I am the Primary 7 class teacher. Our classroom assistants are Mrs Moore and Mrs Smith. We have 21 wonderful children in our class – 8 girls and 13 boys.

This will be a very special and memorable year as it is the girls’ and boys’ final year at St Oliver Plunkett Primary School.  The children will prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation. We will participate in liturgical celebrations and musical performances.

In Primary 7, we will experience a fun and creative curriculum in which we will build on our existing cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills.

In Literacy, children will complete an array of writing and comprehensions as well as exploring a variety of different types of grammar, punctuation and spelling. We will be reading a range of novels linked to our World Around Us and PDMU topics. Primary 7 pupils are also encouraged to read independently throughout the school day. Children will also develop their handwriting skills.

In Numeracy, P7 will learn a wide variety of mathematics comprising of all the different strands on the NI Curriculum including, Number, Measures, Shape and Space and Data Handling. We will use practical mathematics and ICT to explore concepts. Children will continue to develop their problem-solving skills and times tables throughout the year.

In World Around Us, we will explore a variety of topics including, Fair Trade, Faith and Light, The Famine and Farming.

Children will have two PE sessions a week. Swimming will take place on a Tuesday afternoon. The other session will take place in school.

Homework will be given daily and should be returned to school each day to be marked. Each evening children will have Literacy, Numeracy, Spellings, Times Tables and AR tasks to complete. Weekly homework outlines will be shared on Google Classroom.

We look forward to a great year ahead!
