P4 - Mrs S Mc Guinness

Hello and a big, warm welcome to Primary 4.

There are 24 wonderful pupils in our class. Our teacher is Mrs McGuinness and our classroom assistant is Mrs Moore.

This year is a special year for us all as we will be making both our First Confession and our First Holy Communion.

During this year in maths we will cover different areas of learning such as Number – place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and fractions; Measurement - money, length and perimeter, time, mass and capacity; Geometry – properties of shapes and statistics.

In literacy we will be exploring various topics through punctuation and grammar, reading, talking and listening and writing. We will be developing our linguistic phonics through our spelling scheme programme where we complete daily activities in class.

World Around Us topics we will be covering include On Our Doorstep, Weather Watchers and Up, Up and Away.

Homework is set through Seesaw. We have literacy homework on a Monday and Wednesday. Numeracy homework is set on a Tuesday and Thursday. Reading and spellings are set on a daily basis. Children will have a spellings and mental maths quiz on a Friday in class.

We have P.E on a Tuesday (Gaelic coaching) and Friday. Children may wear trainers to school on these days.

Finally, we are excited to announce a new Mental Health and Wellbeing programme we will be taking part in called Neuronimo. Children will complete short, fun tasks over a period of 12 weeks in school with their class.
