P4 - Mrs. S McGuinness
Hello and a warm welcome to Primary 4!
There are 26 wonderful pupils in our class. Our teacher is Mrs McGuinness and our classroom assistant is Miss O’Halloran.
This year is a special year for us all as we will be making both our First Confession and our First Holy Communion.
This year in maths, we will cover various areas of learning including number (place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and fractions), measurement (money, length and perimeter, time, mass and capacity), geometry (properties of shape), and statistics.
In literacy, we will explore a range of topics through punctuation and grammar, reading, talking and listening, and writing. We will also develop our linguistic phonics through a structured spelling programme with daily class activities.
Throughout the year, we will explore exciting topics in the World Around Us, including School is Cool, Houses and Homes, Whatever the Weather, and Up, Up and Away.
Literacy homework will be set on Mondays and Wednesdays, and maths homework on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Reading and spelling tasks are assigned daily. Every Friday, children will complete a spellings and mental maths quiz in class.
We have P.E. twice a week, and children may wear trainers to school on those days.
We’re also looking forward to our weekly visits to Strathfoyle Library!
Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!
